An exhibition of mixed media works by
Darren Aiken
entitled
‘LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION’
This exhibition comprises ‘Portrait Head to Toe’ chess sets.
Satire is used to set politicians and World leaders on a contentious stage against each other.
A3 ink figures depict South African life and movement.
They express the existence of people in our country, where every person has a basic right to expect a roof over his head,
an opportunity for a job, means to eat beyond the expectation of hunger, and a society that cares and gives
the best standard of education to every child. These ink drawings and paintings have character and movement and
emanate from the artists passion for drawing.
Colour needs space. The acrylic ‘Location, Location, Location’ paintings comprise some 60 individual everyday township scenes
all on one large canvas. The artist has also depicted Township scenes, manifested in a series of world famous paintings,
onto large canvasses, applying our understanding of everyday activities to the eye of the beholder.
All the work on display captures current existing moments, documented in pictures and chess sets as part of history.
