An exhibition of mixed media work by

and
Adele Jooste – Mia van Wyk – Wilna Mentz
titled
STATES OF BECOMING
Bringing together the work of four contemporary artists, States of Becoming considers the shifting nature of identity, memory, materiality and place.
Through diverse approaches and mediums, the exhibition explores moments of transition and transformation,
inviting reflection on the ways in which we navigate change, uncertainty and renewal.
The works presented engage with themes of presence and absence, fragility and resilience, loss and persistence.
Whether responding to personal experience, the natural world, or broader social and ecological concerns,
each artist offers a distinct perspective on what it means to exist within a state of continual becoming.
Rather than seeking fixed conclusions, States of Becoming embraces complexity and openness.
It is an invitation to pause, to attend closely, and to consider the subtle ways in which our lives,
relationships and environments are constantly shaped through processes of emergence, dissolution and change.
The exhibition will be opened on Sunday 28 June 2026 at 11h30 to 14h00
by
Rory du Plessis – Prof, Visual Studies, UP
