An exhibition of textile art
by
‘Fibreworks’ and ‘TAGG’
titled
‘Textile Odyssey’
This exhibition will consist of contemporary art quilts and textile art, remarkably varied in their themes, designs and materials.
The fabric and textiles used in these works of art were created with a variety of textures,
colours, patterns, prints, fabric with sheen and also woven fabrics.
Avant-garde processes were used to convey the essence of non-visual concepts such as photo transfer,
raw edge applique, discharging, overdying, faux felting, stamping, recycling and painting. These include social and political issues,
storytelling, memories, the artist’s environment, historical and symbolic events.
These textile artists depict multiple points of view to communicate their ideas and beliefs in their work. They push the boundaries of the traditional medium.
Their work is dynamic, innovative, thought provoking, creative and compelling.
