HERE AND THERE

by

Michèle Nigrini & Willem Pretorius

An exploration of contemporary painting.

Two artists. One shared history. Two very different ways of seeing.

Michèle Nigrini and Willem Pretorius share a long connection to the Eastern Free State village of Rosendal, but their artistic journeys have taken them in different directions.

Willem remains in Rosendal, documenting the changing Platteland and its evolving landscape through a realist eye, while Michèle, now living in Stanford, captures botanicals and her everyday surroundings through gesture, chance and expressive mark-making.

Willem expresses through his theme; Michèle expresses through her mark.

Here and There brings these distinct artistic languages together in a conversation about place, memory, landscape and the many ways we experience the world around us.

The exhibition will be opened by renowned artist and animator,

Dr Diek Grobler
